It all started when…

Well, we finally remodeled our kitchen and one of the must haves was a gourmet, professional style range. Both my wife and I love to cook and so right off the bat we started using our range in earnest. I don’t know about you, but I’m not the neatest cook and after cooking my famous Chicken Marsala, the range needed to be cleaned. So I started removing the grates and sure enough the corner of the heavy grate scratched the top panel. I was so mad at myself. After just a few weeks our brand new shiny stainless steel range didn’t look so new anymore. OK, I’ll be more careful. Well, another month went by and low and behold there was another scratch.

So there we were, after only a few months and our beautiful and expensive range looked like it was five years old. I called the retailer we purchased the range from and he told us the scratches (if not to deep) can be buffed out. So I called the metal repair shop and they would be happy to come out and buff out the scratches. Cost: over $200.

What to do? I certainly didn’t want to pay someone to come out every six months or so to buff out the panel. So, I thought about how to prevent the top panel from getting further scratched. The obvious answer was some sort of a protective pad. After looking on-line and appliance manufacturer’s web sites, I realized there wasn’t a product on the market. Being a chemist and working with resins and plastics throughout my career, I knew what was needed. I begin designing the pad to have the appearance discerning customers would demand, ensure it would stand up in a kitchen environment, and be food safe. After working with suppliers and designers, Range Guard Pro was born.

Range Guard Pro (patent pending) is made from food safe silicone which is soft and flexible, so it stays put on the panel, but is easily removed when needed. The pad is very stylish and looks great so it can stay on your range all the time. You won’t even notice it after a while. If you do want to show off your bright and shiny range (scratch free), it can be easily removed, rolled up and put in a drawer.
